No help here. Hindsight is 20/20. IF ya put the takeoff hardware in a ziplock bag and labeled it, like rear motor mounts, front motor mounts, you would know where they go. THAT is a beginners 1st mistake. Look for a Factory Parts Manual.

Or
Stick a Machinist rule into each fastener hole... dig up the Hardware and sort by Length and Course vs Fine thread... get to it... Patience to do things the Hard Way... but... somethings you will Remember!!
Soon you will recognize hardware as you see it in the Basket!!!

+1 on the Parts Manual - it's invaluable for little details like bolts. Or look it up online at Ronnie's. Here's a link to the 82 XLH. https://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche...ydavidsonmc/13

If you use the Parts Manual pay VERY close attention to which years and models are called out for each item. It looks like Ronnie's already has it sorted, which is nice.

If memory serves the top and bottom rear motor mount bolts are the same thread but different sizes. You also have to install the passenger footrest at the same time, because the bottom bolts go through it and thread into the motor mount. The 82 is weird.
