Mine is similar to that.

I took the fuel pipe off the carb, removed the cover and tried it again. I found that the fuel pipe isn't close to being pinched. As its just the cover thats getting flattened I decided to not worry about it and put the cover back and I'm living with the cover lightly flattened.

I do not use the corrugated plastic stuff on my bikes. i have never had a melted fuel line.
