I read it on the internet so it must be true, in the UK flu kills 20,000 people every winter, coronavirus has killed 1, so it is a national emergency apparently.

Damn, and I thought the “ Corona virus” was related to Spring break?

Because of how easy it spreads.

Quote:
An estimated one third of the world's population (or 500 million persons) were infected and had clinically apparent illnesses during the 1918–1919 influenza pandemic. The disease was exceptionally severe. Case-fatality rates were >2.5%, compared to <0.1% in other influenza pandemics. Total deaths were estimated at 50 million and were arguably as high as 100 million .

So does flu, exactly the same, I got norovirus working in a hospital a few years ago, now that really does spread, this is the have's taking advantage of a situation to keep the have nots under control, nothing more. Create an enemy to control the masses, read Orwell's 1984, the man was a visionary. YMMV.

'Flu killed an average of 17,000 people per year in the UK over the last five years. It does vary from year to year; there were only 1,692 deaths last year (2018/19), but there were 28,330 in 2014/15. So far this year (since October): 70.

On Coronavirus; time will tell.
