Default Powervision - How to Combine Multiple LOG Files ?

Is there an accepted / correct way to combine multiple Powervision LOG files ?

I'd like to combine multiple logging sessions from a weekend..... and perform the analysis on 1 file vs 6 unique log files.

Combining the .csv files in EXCEL doesn't maintain the TIME offset across files & then there's the extra header rows to deal with / edit out. Dynojet's Powercore s/w doesn't like this attempt at combining files & altering data, either.

Is there some other tool / method I'm missing ?

I don't if know this is "Accepted or correct" but I do this-

I just use a batch file to combine my log files

This will copy all the LOGxxxx.csv files in the directory into a "Year"-"Month"-"Date"-LogMulti.csv file. (if your date format is the same as mine

C:\Users\shann>date
The current date is: Mon 06/03/2019

set filename=%date:~10,4%-%date:~4,2%-%date:~7,2%LogMulti.csv
copy Log* %filename%

Then I have a series of lines in the batch file to rename all the LOGxxxx.csv file to the format year-month-day-logxxxx.csv

ren log0000.csv %date:~10,4%-%date:~4,2%-%date:~7,2%Log0000.csv
( I have 40 lines going from LOG0000.csv to log0040.csv)

I end up with these files:
Code:
05/31/2019 12:48 PM 1,010,565 2019-05-31Log0000.csv
05/31/2019 12:48 PM 234,996 2019-05-31Log0001.csv
05/31/2019 12:48 PM 1,457,097 2019-05-31Log0002.csv
05/31/2019 12:48 PM 332,296 2019-05-31Log0003.csv

05/31/2019 12:48 PM 3,729,885 2019-05-31Log0007.csv
05/31/2019 12:48 PM 3,039,533 2019-05-31Log0008.csv

05/31/2019 12:49 PM 1,275,309 2019-05-31Log0010.csv

05/31/2019 12:49 PM 2,138,954 2019-05-31Log0012.csv
05/31/2019 12:49 PM 53,858 2019-05-31Log0013.csv

05/31/2019 12:49 PM 481,241 2019-05-31Log0016.csv
05/31/2019 01:00 PM 21,313,203 2019-05-31LogMulti.csv
Then to remove the extra header lines from the LogMulti.csv file
I open the file in Excel, at the first data line's first cell, I use CRTL + SHIFT + END to select the rest of the file.

I then Press F5, Select SPECIAL in the pop up box, then choose "BLANKS" Excel will find the blank cells (where data was missed in the LOG)

I then press CTRL+ - (minus sign)
Excel asks what to delete, I choose "Entire Row"

Then I go to the top of the file in Excel, I usually search for "Ratio" as I log the Set AFR, Excel finds it in the First Header two times, and then in the column headers once. The next time it finds ratio will be the second log file header.
I select all the rows to highlight the entire header and row headers and delete it. (You then need to click in a single cell to continue a search)

When the search returns to the top of the Excel file first header I save the file.

Here is some info and screen shots:
https://www.groovypost.com/howto/rem...-spreadsheets/

When recording multiple DATA LOGS, do not change the PV "Guages" or Logged variables or your columns may be reordered.

If you log any data item like "#gear" that does not record in every row of the log, all lines without an entry will be deleted. (I just deleted the #GEAR column before searching for the blank cells, but I no longer log the #Gear or display it on my gauges)

Thx for that, Shanneba.

I essentially do something similar, using a product called TextPad.

I place my weekend log files in a unique directory. I use the date on the directory name ..... "June 2 2019", for example.

With TextPad, I edit each LOG file (except the 1st LOG file), removing the Header lines. Saving each file, of course.

Then run the command --> copy log*.csv multilog.csv

Now the "downside" ..... the 1st column "TIME" is not incremented across file boundaries.

EXCEL is quite happy with this format. Naturally, EXCEL wouldn't care.

On the other hand, WinPEP 8 Data Center (part of the Powervision POWERCORE suite), doesn't like this format. I imagine it's the TIME column that it finds invalid, & thus it fails to import the "multilog.csv" file.

I suppose you might be using MegaLogViewer HD. Yes ? No ? Does your multilog file work ok with MegaLogViewer HD ?

I do use MegaLogViewer.

I don't pay much attention to the time field unless I am only looking at a small part of a log.

I did notice the other day that all the log file times kept incrementing even after the PV stopped responding and I stopped the log file, exited the gauge screen, went back to the gauges and started another log file.

I suspect the log time will reset when the PV losses power when the bike is shut off and restarts at 0ms. Maybe it uses the Engine Run Time variable from the ECU?

That's an interesting observation.....

Thx for pointing out that LOG TIME behavior.
