Default Converted 883, head questions

Bought a converted 883 last month and I'm fairly sure that nothing was done to the heads.
So if the 04-06 1200 are best stock heads, what would you guys do? Swap the 883 heads for the 04 1200s or get them worked on? Only reason I ask is that I can likely get the 1200 heads for less.

Thanks.

Some 1200 kits are designed to work with 883 heads

If the bike runs good with no issues I would just leave it alone. You are going to need new pistons to run the 1200 heads. With the conversion pistons you have now you can only do so much with the 883 heads. A good valve job and blending of the valve guides with the ports is the most cost effective option for now. For about the cost of the 1200 heads you could have the valve seats enlarged to 1200 size and install the longer conversion valves to match the deeper chambers in the 883 heads. Probably not worth the time, effort, and risk of taking the top end apart. I would spend my efforts on getting the tuning nailed, including a dyno session.
