Muffler Insulation / Packing Suggestions
I have begun my latest update to the bike (which will be a thread of its own in the near future). In the process, I have determined that I will most likely replace the packing in the mufflers I am working with. So, with that said, I am asking if anyone has any reccomendations on specific rolled muffler packing material to use. I know over time that most packing materials tend to break down, as evidenced by the sound change in your exhaust. But I'd like to find something that will hold up better than what I found when I took the first muffler apart last night. I'll put up a pic of what I found tonight when I start my update thread. Thanks in advance for any info you offer up.

Suggest sheet fiberglass rather than bulk... Available from cycle part houses generally for less than $20.
Can't advise on brand as I haven't repacked a muffler since the '70s

Glass will break up over time.
Heard good things about "Chore Boy" etc. bronze kitchen scrubbers.

Packing burns out, needs replacing...go with Stainless baffles of progression or regression, it's just a cough from a port.

Which model of Buell do you have? Shouldn't this be in the exhaust section?
