Oil tank vent
Can’t find a definitive answer. Does there need to be vent to atmosphere on a oil tank for a sportster chopper? I have been looming at oil tanks, some have vented caps, some don’t. The oil tank on my bike, it was welded to the frame when I got it, has the feed, return, and vent to the tank. There is no vent to atmosphere at the tank. Does it need one? When I disconnect the vent from the motor to the tank, it haves oil spray so a ‘t’ fitting won’t work. Thanks for any help

No matter what anybody tells you, Harley Davidson does not vent Sportster oil tanks to atmosphere.
So no, you don't need to. Just hook the vent line to the cam chest as usual.
