Default Right rear turn signal out 2002 XL1200C

Bought the bike with front turn signals already removed, left rear lights up solid (no flash) but I got nothing on the right side. I cut the connector at the end of the harness off to replace the stock tail/stop light assembly, and I've twisted together both left and right turn signals to purple&black and then brown&black and both signals worked each time I clicked the left turn button (so that eliminates bulbs, turn signal fixture itself) but still nothing on the right. TSM bad maybe?? P.S. the issue did not start after I cut the connector to hook up aftermarket tail light, the right turn signal has never lit up for me since I've had it

First off - - Welcome to the XLForum - How long have you had the bike (02 1200C)?

Here's the XLForum Sportsterpedia section on the Turn Signals:
http://sportsterpedia.com/doku.php/t...3#turn_signals

Are you trying to run ONLY the Rear Turn Signals, no fronts?

From the SP (link above) you will find out that the Turn Signal Module (TSM) for '02 & many other years, uses the VIOLET wire in the wiring harness for the LEFT-side TS wiring & uses BROWN wire in the wiring harness for the RIGHT-side TS wiring...

These colors are used at the TSM unit itself...

Harness VIOLET wire connects to TSM Pin#4
Harness BROWN wire connects to TSM Pin#3
Harness BLACK wire connects to TSM Pin#1

At the rear TS lights connections:

Harness VIOLET wire connects to LEFT TS VIOLET wire
Harness BLACK wire connects to LEFT TS BLACK wire

Harness BROWN wire connects to RIGHT TS VIOLET wire (NOT HARNESS VIOLET)
Harness BLACK wire connect to RIGHT TS BLACK wire

Verify your connections as listed - But you should realize that for the lights to blink correctly with the orignal TSM (not simply light up), you need to load the electrical line (each left & right) sufficiently for the internal LOAD-ACTIVATED blinker to work...

Typically, a 6-ohm, 50-watt Resistor is necessary for each bulb that you remove - So you would need one for the left side (connected between VIOLET & BLACK wire) and one for the right side (connected between BROWN & BLACK wire) in order to load the TSM line to make it blink (rather than simply light up)... Because you removed the Front Left TS unit & the Front Right TS unit...

Read over the Sportsterpedia section on the 1997-2003 functions & look at the 1997-2003 module pin listing...
See the general wiring diagram that shows 1991-2013 typical wiring...

Thanks, a few months but first time I've got to mess with it since. And yes rears only. Must have been bad connection under the seat bc both are working now. Not flashing but I'll take it
