Default Rear Brake Pressure Switch Failure

Initial rear brake pressure switch fail on 2008 1200C Sporty. Ordered replacement from Amazon listed (Made in China) OEM part that blew apart 10 minutes after installation leaking brake fluid around the plastic insert. (Many other folks posted the same results in reviews, that I should have considered)

I ordered another OEM listed replacement from Dennis Kirk (Made in Taiwan) that also failed but started leaking around the terminals while bleeding the brakes.

This should have been a no-brainer? Am I doing something wrong?

Anyone else having this issue? Where should I get a better quality switch?

How about getting the actual H-D part?

Take the switch to a NAPA store and get a replacement from them. You can do that for all the relays as well. Much better pricing, so I always buy them and have a spare.

When mine went bad, I just went to the HD dealer. Why fool around for a better deal?

well, i went through two hd units. the switch part is actually good as you can switch the connection with a small rod, the stupid snap disk were fatiqued.
i replaced it with a pressure switch off a old style hydraulic brake master cylinder before there were pedal switches. now it was a tight fit but way better than the hd unit.

I went through two or three HD units on my 95. Then got a Drag Speciaties one and it's been on there close to 10 years.

Well, I went to 2 parts houses and found one (Taiwan manufacture)that was the same size with correct terminals. It too blew a terminal off while bleeding the brakes. Geeezzzz. After this I drove the 30 miles to the closest Harley Dealer, got the replacement, (Italian manufacture) installed, and bled the brakes with no issue. Go Italy!!
