Exclamation Fire

I hope everyone who's in the bushfire affected zones (even our Californian brothers and sisters) are all OK, please be careful.

I've seen too many houses belonging to too many well-deserving folk destroyed in these fires. I have also seen many vehicles, including what were once really nice bikes, burnt to a metal skeleton.
It doesn't take long! One minute you're fine, about 5 minutes later your house looks like NASA launched a rocket upside down. I've seen that happen recently, it won't take much when you have a fire front approaching your property.

To those out there within 1km of any bush lands, I urge you to look after yourself and your loved ones. Don't assume that being 100m or so away from the bush will keep you safe: ember attacks can send you to your doom!

Prepare yourself like you will have to evacuate, and decide on what you need to survive, and what cannot be replaced. Keep this in sturdy boxes which can take a bashing, so that you can grab them and go when you need to.

And please don't be complacent: we're just at the beginning, and the season is likely to get worse in the heat of the summer. Now is not the time to let yourself get distracted by the recent political bickering from the media and others.

If you are feeling low, worried for anyone, or have lost people, pets, things, etc, and are feeling the burn, please do not hesitate to vent here. Just remember, you are not alone.
