Default 1200c drive belt tension Q

Noticed when coming in after ride belt seems very tight and will Squeek when rolling it in garage ( only does this after say 10 mins of sitting , don't think it's doing it while riding).

I read it will tighten up when sprockets warm etc so not worried about that I just don't want it too tight.. I checked the play with the " correct" tool for checking and it's roughly 3/8" when cold.. I got my mate to sit on it and it didn't change ( or not enough worth mentioning).

I have my pre load 1 down from the hardest it can be set so the shocks really don't move much unless you bounce on it ( set it like this because originally the Mrs was going to ride with me)

Just wondering if I should leave or slacken off slightly, maybe another 1/8" to be on the safe side ...

Thoughts

Cheers

A little looser is better than tight.

I set my belt to book spec, then back it off a couple turns looser.

Haven't lost a belt yet.

Check wheel alignment also.

Going to back it off an 1/8-1/4 tops get just a little extra play. I bought the " proper" tool as it was only cheap and it's set to spec . It doesn't move much when I get someone to sit on it as shocks are set almost full pre load..
