Last night I got the gaskets on and the primary buttoned up. Clutch cable is shorter but still too long, but I'll still keep it. Clutch is adjusted and I added just enough fluid to have a drip remind me to tighten up the drain plug. I still have to top off the primary fluid, tighten a few things, install a mirror, and fuel. Not a long list, but I can hear rust dust in the tank that I couldn't get out. Magnet? Let the filter deal with it? IDK

Ah yes the tank rust. It could get past the petcock screen on my Golan. My Mikuni flooded several times thanks to that. It didn't matter how many times I flushed it. Only reliable solution I found was to install a decent 30 micron in-line filter.

Most in-line filters I find are for automotive, which are built for fuel pumps pushing fluid through. I don't want my filter to starve my carb, so if you could share your filter type and source, that's be cool.

I bought a billet one with specified fuel flow and filtration. It uses a cleanable stainless filter and fits nicely under the ignition switch.
Since this is finest filter, you know where to look for any collected crud. Mine came from a UK company called Torques. I know Golan
make similar in the US.

Not much to report. I've cranked and revved it a few times. All that's left is to re calibrate the speedo, check the primary fluid level, and put a mirror on it. The mirror thing is the real hold up. The bar end mirror, which I loved, won't work because I've mounted the hand controls with 1/2" sticking past the end of the bar. If I move them all the way onto the bar, the controls hit the tank. So now I'm looking at needing different bars, or different risers. Hardest tank swap ever!

You know my garage. I have several sets of mirrors laying around. They either look ugly, or can't be positioned to see out of. Flipped, up, down, whatever.

Don't matter if you can see or not. You just got to be legal. Never depend on your mirrors to see behind, turn your head & look.

I might just use these. They are black. Do there's that.
