I went in looking at the FXD Custom. I was checking out an FXDL from a few feet away and the salesman told me it was the new 05 XL 1200 Custom. "No sh-t?" was my rewsponse. He ran down the list of goodies. The fit, the ride, the price was all it took. Went in looking at Dyna's and rode off on an 05 XL 1200 Custom with the biggest smile on my face.

Price was a factor. Plus I like the way it handles and rides. This happens to be my 3rd sporty.

Since I was a kid, I had always wanted a Harley (the only street bike I would have ever owned), but to be honest, had always thought a sporty to be a smaller bike.

I was caught in that "its a girls bike" BS! I just didnt know enough, I admit. When I finally decided to buy, I went to look at the Dyna's, but after walking around, and seeing all the bikes, and looking at the Custom, I was like "hey! This is sweet!".

Once i sat on it, I knew it was all me! It had the tank style I liked, and had a vision, of what it would look like when I was done! After riding it, there was no question, I was buying! Ordered it that day!

Im not saying I would like to own a bigger one, one day, but I dont see myself ever gettng ride of this one, just to have another! I think i will just have another!!

Im not done making this one "mine" yet. Still have stuff to do, and plenty of riding to do!
I love it! Oh yeah, and the price was right, and it is the "OG" of Harley!

Thumbs up

All the guys at work talk about are Harleys. The Sporty was the lightest bike(factor in picking it up off the ground!!) Didn't know it was top heavy!! It is the first bike I ever owned. I love it!!!

I got mine because a guy wanted to trade it to me for my boat. The boat was really pissing me off so I traded him even.

This is my second. The first one was bought because of price, but I got a lot of enjoyment out of it. This time I was actually shopping for a V-Rod or possibly a Softail, I saw ol Black Jack sitting there, sat on it and said this is me doooggg. I also like the fact that it's the only Sportster I've seen in the local HOG chapter and those guys seem to really appreciate it's coolness instead of looking down on it.

I've been the only man on a Sporty on the two HOG rides I've been on.

I haven't, however, had anyone give me any grief over being a Sporty.

This is my 4th road bike and my 2nd Sportster. After my first was totaled I couldn't do without a Sportster, so I bought another one. My reasons match what some others have already said. It fits me. It isn't too heavy(I haven't dropped one, but I think the odds are in my favor that I can pick it up). It didn't cost tooooo much(but almost, after everthing I added). Almost anything you can imagine as an upgrade or accessory is available somewhere. I love the sound and the power is very ... "comfy"(easy to control & smoooth). And, last but not least I just love the way they look.
