I doubt anyone "back in the day" ever put white walls on a Sportster, so they aren't old school Sportster. More like old school dresser... That said, I don't have anything against them. To each his own.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it (especially if you don't know what you're doing). Most Sportster problems are owner-induced.

Like them when paired with the 21" rim.

Nope. I was turning whitewalls in on my cars back when they were popular. Never cared for the look. Sure wouldn't put them on my custom but it's your ride.

Depends on the style of bike. I remember seeing pix of sportys with whitewalls in Easyriders in the 70s. They look a PITA to keep clean!

Several satin black Irons in my general area have them. Mine has them too, with the difference that I don't try too hard to keep them clean. Personally I like the sort of slutty look they give the bike. Not to everyone's taste though.

I always thought that a vehicle with whitewalls was an American look. I hated them when I was a teen but learned to appreciate the look as I got older. It was a lot cheaper to have a clean set of whitewalls, shiny black wheels and chrome dog-dish hubcaps or baby moon hubcaps to give a car a hot rod look. On a bike, I think it reminisces the 40's 50's and '60s of the last century. An Old School Look.
Keeping them clean was easy with "Westley's Bleche-white" which is now made by Black Magic and reports say that it doesn't work as well. But a good old SOS pad gets them clean, too.

There's quite a few white walled Sportsters over here (UK). Usually a matt black Iron or a 48
