You’ll get there for sure. The first year of ownership is all about working out the bugs planted by previous owners and getting it reliable. Another source of debris that can hang up the needle is the fuel hose itself. If it’s old it can fall apart from the inside out. Also every time you pull the hose off and then force it back onto the hose barb there is the potential for it to shave off some rubber that will end up in the float bowl.

absolutely.make sure you turn off the gas overnight and turn it on before you start it,you can leave it on all day if your ridein(you will),but keep it off if your not screwing with it.
