They do to some extent, but a little oil is desirable on the exhaust valve stems.

Sounds like an extremely complicated method when a much simpler approach can be used.

Still, if you look over om your workbench and discover that you have a blanking plate for your carburetor sitting there next to the spark plug adapter for your air hose and you don't mind all that set up and tear down time, why not ?

I'm a bit surprised he didn't suggest having the bike underwater while doing this so you can see where the bubbles come from. I do that with my inner tubes.
