Default 2009 XB12 engine in M2 frame.

Hi i'm putting a XB12 engine in my '97 M2 frame.
I don't want to use the injection, but use my Mikuni HSR42 carb.
Anybody knows how to run a stand alone ignition on the engines?

This is how she looked before:

You're not going to run anything designed for a cone engine as you have nowhere to mount it, options are slim to nonexistening.
The front mount looks like it close to being where it need to be, swingarm pivot looks way off.

Yes, enine mounts are not the problem. The ignition is.
I found this link: http://www.amm.haan.de/EFI_to_carb_X..._XL_models.htm
It uses the CPS for ignition. Shoud thid fit mu engine? In other words, are the XL and XB cranks the same?

Sound like that would do the job, interesting.
You going to stick around for your build? I would love to follow along. Good luck!

I just had a mail from Haan that their ignition works on this engine.
I will keep you all informed.

Does an XB12 use exactly the same voltage signals to the ECM as a sporty uses to the ignition? I am not trying to bust on you, trying to learn something as you know a lot more about electronics than I do, especially where computers are concerned.

Good question. Never heard of it. Does it work with only CPK?

I did some searching on internet. Looks like a good ignition for my setup. Only thing that worrie me is the MAP sensor.
Can i use the sensor that's connected to my M2's carb od do i need one from a xl1200?

If the voltages are the same the map sensor should be easy. Just get a carb manifold and map sensor for a 2004-2006 sportser.
