I used an FAG 6009 2RS. Pretty expensive bearing at $49 but a good brand name.

Wow that was expensive for a FAG bearing. I paid about £16 for my last SKF 6009.

Regarding which way to fit the 7200 bearing see this thread: http://xlforum.net/forums/s...1688139&page=3

Great Norse! I got mine too. I'll probably put my bike together this week.

I ended up with just one thou under 2.5", with that I just needed to give the trap-door a little heat (aprox 50 C, 110/120 F ) and it did slide in without force.
I used Lock-tite too, since the fit was not a tight crimp.

Thanks Tore,

do you think it will work with a inner diameter of 56 mm ?
I think there is enough space.

If yes, it possible to use a standard thick walled tube with AD:71mm ID:56mm

I also thought about a groove for a circlip to fix the bearing in the sleeve.

56mm would be fine, as a mather of fact I think it was around there I ended up myself, it's not a critical diameter.
Retainer circlip shure would be a nice touch, but not realy needed, but if there is space for it, why not?
