The forspar seems of wood, bit smelly bellow decks and normal for her age, i am actually quite fond of old organic ships.

Did the rigging bark? The low thrum and then she sprints, lines are moved and she does again. No engine can do that. NO. ENGINE. CAN. DO. THAT!
Everything moves, ears peek, feet move and she lays over with confidence.

These are the last of my aurora photos. These were taken on the island of Senja in Norway. What a night! No laying back in the snow enjoying this show... howling wind had the"feels like" temp below -20oC and I was hanging onto my tripod to ensure it didn't fly off the end of the jetty, or maybe it was to keep me from the same fate It was still amazingly spectacular, just not as meditative or relaxing. But the action of the winds on the snowy peaks just added another incredible dimension to the show and the moon lit up the fjord mountains beautifully. The show lasted about an hour. I ended up getting two short series of images during the evening, as my tripod did move partway through the show. So the first series I converted to an animated gif, and the second longer series as a timelapse video.

BTW, Aurora Borealis is derived from the Greek words “Aurora” meaning “sunrise” and “Boreas” meaning “wind”. The wind part turned up this night in more than just its solar form.

I wish I had left my camera set up for another 10 minutes or so. To the eye, it appeared the show was over when I turned my camera off, but the camera showed there was still some green slowly dissipating. I wish I'd captured that too... just so the timelapse didn't end so abruptly.

Good-on-ya Trace, absolutely stunning. I remember when I was a kid the adults used to stay out to watch them in lawn chairs at night, then in the morning we would go out to pick up all the change in the grass that fell out of their pockets.
I remember seeing them when I was a teenager near Montreal with the Doors' Light may Fire playing on the transistor radio when it first came out, a great big dancing green cone over the city. It was rare to see them near the city though, too much light pollution, it was much more common to see them farther north in the Gaspé isolated from city lights. Thanks for this little trip down memory lane.

You are VERY welcome. Pleased you enjoyed it

Thought I'd share a couple of beach photos today.

Growing up in tropics I've spent a lot of time at beaches, but I'd never ever contemplated a beach with snow... sure we have snow in Australia, though very rarely at sea level. And while I've experienced plenty of snow and ice in the northern hemisphere before, this was my first snowy beach visit. WEIRD! Weird but wonderful... a few things felt "wrong". First, I was wearing a LOT of clothing And of course my footwear... normally the thongs get left at the start of the soft stuff, and from there it is bare feet, unless the sand is too hot, in which case the thongs go back on till the water is reached. Walking onto a beach in knee high snow boots was very different. We'd had a snowstorm the day/night before so lots of powder that wasn't packed down at all, so at first the snow was shin deep but I could still feel the sand moving under that as sand does Of course as I got closer to the shoreline, the snow dwindled to just being a light coverage and when I looked behind, there were sandy footprints... very cool! Anyways... onto the photos.

A panorama of the beach bay. As you can see, more snow was on its way.

And just as it started snowing...

With the snow coming straight in at me at the water's edge, I turned around and captured the snow in the sand dune grasses until it passed.

And the calm after the storm...

Not right for any if you ask me, well done with that mess. Try to open a car window by Fargin crank. Noo ma'am, toes in sand thank you, balmy breeze and knees to it.

I'm out of quarantine and it is an insanely gorgeous day... so while we aren't yet on complete lockdown, I thought I'd take my pony for a spin around the hills in my version of "exercise for mental health while social distancing", but alas, she has a completely flat battery I thought I'd put the trickle charger on before I left our shores, but when I lifted her cover this morning, I found it was something I forgot to do. Stoopid! And, as warned, the constant draw killed the battery within 10 weeks. Thank goodness both bikes were hooked up

Today's pics: a little wave action from Tungeneset on Senja Island. This was a bit further along the coast line from the above beach at Ersfjordstranda and so has the same peaks in the background.

And a church sandwiched between the beach and the mountains in Gimsoy: a beautiful "kirke" in an amazing location.
