I'm currently on a ride with 20 bikes up to Blackwater Falls and the surrounding area ( 180 miles so far) now we're heading for the airport to welcome the veterans back from The Honpr Flight. Hreat weather here, you guys be careful, I miss you all. (Kick around some idea's for the 2018 East Coast Meet and Greet while you're all together, it's time to start making plans.)

Good morning everyone! Heading out the door soon to meet up with Zoharo and Kelley, then on to Newcomerstown to meet everyone else.
If any one has decided not to come today, please let us know on this thread so we are not waiting for you!
The weather looks like it may hold for awhile, but we are probably going to get wet this afternoon.

Safe travels. Gravydog.

Some of you already know some of this, but SportsterPaul crashed on our way to the meet up at Newcomerstown this morning. About 9:30 or so we were coming up a hill on 229 some miles east of Mt Vernon & ran up on an Amish buggy. I was leading & slowed & moved left to pass & heard Paul's tire. Looked in the mirror to see him fighting a locked rear. As I passed the buggy, Paul passed me in the ditch & went down. Every one who saw it stopped to help. Squad arrived, took him to Mt. Vernon hospital. As of 4:30 he was being tranported to Grant Medical Center in Columbus, with a separated left sholder & badly bruised chest. The tests showed elevated levels of some heart enzime that occurs with trauma, or heart attack & since Mt. Vernon is not equipped to care for those things, they sent him to Grant, which is the major trauma center for central Ohio. He's in good hands as I have personal experience with Grant from 8 years ago, when I got t-boned on my bike. They'll fix him up good. I have his bike & will be going to Grant in the morning to see how he's doing. When they are satisfied he's not gonna die on them, I'll take him home to Michigan, since I already have his bike on my trailer. So, bad news..Paul crashed, good news... he's gonna be OK, but it's gonna hurt for a while. I'll be back when I know more tomorrow.

Damn....
I'm pleased he's in good hands. Give him my love when you see him. Tell him he's in my thoughts.

Paul sure knows how to have an adventure! I bet he'll be feeling this for a while, but glad to hear he'll be okay.

How's his bike? I can't send him any spare parts for his shoulder or heart, but I might have something he can use on the bike...

Trace, Paul will appreciate that. Thanks.
Dan, the speedo & tach are smashed, handlebars & most of the stuff on the left end of the bars is toast & the left foot peg & mount are broken. Front fender & tank are dinged. The wind screen he had is also pretty well destroyed. The bike still runs & when I started it & rode it around the gravel drive we put it in to get it off the road, it didn't seem to track wrong. There's more that I probly don't see, but that's what's obvious. The rest is mostly bits that get broke in any kind of crash. We were probly down to about 45mph or so when he hit the dirt, not pavement, & dirt is all he hit, thank God. There was a family of 4 in the buggy.

Joe, HB, and Kelley.

Made it home just before dark. All is well here. My prayers go out to Paul for all to go easy and well.

My spill in the rain trying to make a quick turn and avoid traffic only left a couple of bruises and a broken left front turn signal.

I was hoping to hear better results from the ride... I'm shocked to hear about Paul, but I'm glad that it wasn't worse. If there's anything that I can do for Paul or his bike, let me know. (I guess from now on we WILL have to take it easy on him.)
