I live in Miami and It gets hot as "f" down here. Your only cool if your out on the big roads less travelled like one of the big highways like I-75, Hwy 27 and a few others.

Highway 27 is always a nice ride and you can open up your bike but you have to go exactly the speed limit in the little towns because brother they will mercilessly nail you for speeding. even a little.

QUESTION: What is the best heavy weight gear oil. Same concerns about protecting the motor. The Gear oil I was using was a very high Redline gear oil. 70/90 or 75/100 or something like that. I cant remember (Getting Old) what it was and this is my question.


Gear Oil: What is the heaviest and most protective gear oil I could use, not worried about expense.

Gear oil and motor oil viscosity are not the same

I have read 90wt gear oil has the viscosity of about 50 wt motor oil.

It would be good to hear from someone that had a real understanding of this

Default Miami Mayhem

Yep, Its bad down here in Miami. Snowbirds, thugs, off road quads and bikes on the streets, and an amalgam of other factors make driving a bike here a treacherous undertaking.

I live in a relatively enclosed and shielded little town called Miami Springs and as long as you stay within the "Springs" your generally ok. It's well policed, well laid out and for the most part very civilized here in the Springs.

So, I'm satisfied just puttering around here in town to keep the battery fresh and feed my itch. I do however look forward to riding out the the west coast of Florida. It's another world out there.

Port Charlotte and North Port are very Very nice. stretched out, lots to do, lots to see, and the local Port Charlotte and North Port Harley Dealerships have a regular Sunday bash with free beer and live rock bands, bikini bike washes and stores are open. Just grown-up fun everywhere.
