front brake line help - 1980
Hi,
I actually have a 750 in an amen frame, and I installed a front end off of an ironhead. They guy I purchased it from said it was a 1980. My problem is I haven't been able to find an definitive info on the brake line fittings. I have a great source for custom length brake lines (APEX brakes) which is actually cheaper to have it shipped to you than to get a DIY kit.
What i'm trying to figure out is the fitting type and pitch/diameter of the brake line and bleeders. My caliper looks like this.

Hi,
get a thread pitch gauge and a ruler. Both imperial & metric.
Regards,
Andy.

3/16" flared tubing, I think it is a 3/8x24 thread.

1980 had the 90 degree fitting which I believe is 1/8“-27 NPT to 3/16”.
1982-1983 had a 3/8" x 24 banjo bolt.
(JW Boon has it incorrectly listed as 9/16" 24)
The L1985 master had a 3/8"x24 banjo bolt.
DK says banjo Bolt (41739-84) for the 84-E85 master is 7/16” x 24.

I made up braided steel lines for my bike, got all the lines and fittings from jpcycles. If you punch 1980 Sportster into their search engine it should show what fittings you need for that year. That should give you all the details regarding diameter and pitch etc and reconfirm what others have said here.

Previous owner put a Wilwood up front.
Fine brake, need to buy new pucks for it.
Nice getting enough stop out of a single disc

One of the things I like about them is their website list friction coefficient/heat graph so you can see what each compound is going to do....just don't go for the .75 c/f.....
