even if you do not want the top end, the reduction of the sportgear amplifies the stock setting.

I just got around to measuring up the XR1200X 18" front wheels... they are not 18x3 but 18x3.5 WOW
Since Im running a complete XR1200x front end on this bike the wheel bearing/spacers and brake setup should be easy for the front... almost... just add time and money...
I chose to grab a new set of front rotors form the MOCO (again they had the best price) that match the original rear rotor and have the 2.208 center bore... sure i can bore out the old ones but they will just become spares for my XR-1000/XR1200x front end which uses the 83 XR1000 wheel on the XR1200x forks and axle...
the rear setup should be easier yet its just 0.75 spacer with for a 2000 up wheel turned to 1.986 to index the sprocket and a 2000up 0.250 spacer and a 5/16 2000up adapter to get the disk index and required 0.5625 thickness... i'll bolt them up and tig them together... all in all should be a straightforward job once the iguanas unfreeze down here...

antigravity battery in... don't worry i have some 1/8 & 1/16 black pebble finish abs plastic sheet that i will make a light weight battery cover shortly
had to take a cutoff tool and a hammer to the battery cover and hold down strap... i didn't use the little spacer feet that came with the battery they were still too short.... so i happened to be changing/recovering the seats in my jet boat right now so i had some black closed cell foam that i made a pad under the battery and all is well...

18" wheel conversion
I'm anxious to see your bike with the 18" wheels on it. I to have bought a 18" rear wheel (18x2.5) for my 1999 S model. Im waiting on the supplier to get more 19" spoke front wheels in for a 99 model and I will probably get one. Your forks should look awsome. I was considering buying a Buell front end not long ago but decided not to.
I've found a couple of used ECM module since talking to you last and a new 4 post coil. Be sure and post pics of your forks when you are finished.

cool... hit a snag on my second 18" wheel... resolve that tommorow. that sets me back a week or so whilst the MOCO sends me another...
remember stock single piston front calipers work fine on narrow spoked rims but the 4 piston MOCO calipers would hit the spokes
