I don't have any issue with controlling the bike with forward controls. Not at all. BUT, I'm not sure if I like them. After 2 hours, my feet want to fall off off of them. I end up putting my ankles on top of the pegs for a bit to rest and stretch.

They also are in the way of things... like 2-1 pipes, and, I needed a slim air cleaner because of long legs and big feet. ( I have trouble getting to the brake pedal with a big air cleaner)

I'd like to try a two hour ride with mid controls to see if the comfort/fit is better.

mine point out from the crash bar,
but i could point them in on the crash bar i guess if i wanted too.
i almost never use them anyway.

next year i think the crash bar is coming off.
its my first bike in 20 years, so i left it on this season.

FWIW I’ve always preferred mids on a Sportster, although I’ve ridden Big Twins and flatheads with footboards and liked them.

I do find that even for someone my height (5’8”) there isn’t a lot of legroom. You have to remember that Sportsters went down the “chopper seat” path in the 1970s and lost around 2” of legroom, which they couldn’t afford, then or now.

I like mids despite being 6'1&1/2" with 34" legs. did a 300 mile trip from Essex to Lancashire last year no problem & a 370 mile day the year before. The Mustang wide vintage seat sits me up a bit and further back

My current seat is the stock solo seat for my 2005 Sporty. I'm pretty sure it is wider and thicker than the newer stock solo seats. If I ever replace it, it will be with the Mustang that looks identical to it and has the same measurements. I can ride all day with no back or butt problems at all.
However, I can't ride any bike with forward controls because the slouching position forces my lower back into a position that kills my herniated disc and flares up my sciatica. I've tried several different brands and sizes of bikes with forwards and always have to cry "uncle" in about 20 minutes. It's a good thing I prefer mid-controls because that is all I am physically capable of riding.

rigid frame with a springer has forwards. this bike cant corner without skipping the rear tire across the pavement. its for going slow and chilling.
hammer bike is all balls and rides high off the pavement. couldnt carve like it does with forwards, so mids it is.
