I found the time on some cool mornings last week to replace the throw out bearing and the grenade plate. I posted the details of tools, steps and results in a separate post. I hope this helps some DIY riders. It is not a hard job if you take your time, plan well and have the right tools. If I could do it, anyone can.

UPDATE:
Nearly 2000 miles later, the new throw-out bearing and grenade plate removal continues to make rides more enjoyable than ever. I ride mountain twisties all the time it seems I shift every few seconds throughout all of my rides. The smoother and easier clutch pull (to me, anyway) and slightly quicker clutch engagement are far better than what I had before, which weren't that bad in the first place and the parts I removed were still in very good shape. So I figure went from "good" to "better". I encourage everybody to do this. It's not expensive, not hard to do and the only special tool I needed was the clutch spring remover.
