05 1200c, belt broke at 2500 mi. Was on my way to work, got to the bottom of my driveway, stopped to check for cars, went to take off in 1st gear and it wouldn't go. At first I thought it was the clutch or something. Looked behind me and saw the belt on the street. Had it towed to HD since I couldn'd push it back up the driveway. Repaired under warrenty. Have not done any radical driving or fast starts.

13months old, 30,000 km and the belt broke, clean snap between the teeth.
service guys told me only 1 belt is replace under waranty, even if the new one breaks in 2 days. (i'd like to see that hold up in court)
i'm still partial to sprockets & chains, and considering in OZ the belts are over $450 AUD each i'm considering going to a chain just for peace of mind.
(p.s. new chain on my old VF1000 was about $210 AUD)

cheers
crackers

Mine broke at about 20000. It was due to my pulley side bearing freezing up and welding itself to the axle. The bike slid a bit then the bolt spun in the swingarm as a rolled to a stop. It was really tough cutting the axle out with it in the frame. Used a air hack saw and a couple of blades.

Broke my belt at about 15K miles on an '04 1200C. Put a rock through it at about 11K miles. Knew it was gonna go, just trying to get the last mile out of it. Broke while downshifting before a stopsign.
