Brother, that was nobodies cup of tea, that's why nobodies making it now, I just wanted to post that because of it's fuglyness.
It was a cheap looking copy of a rear end style that nobody liked when it was put out. I think it was only available on the 70-71 Sportster and 71-72 FX.

There sure is a bunch of good looking small tank Sportsters in that Instagram pic. The one with the long uncut frame rails is probably the best you could do without cutting them.

Well, thanks for replying so politely then.

That long rail sporty back end in the picture has some potential, it's just done horribly. If you filled those silly V's and put a tail light in that hole, then cut the front down closer to straight to define the rear of the seat and fix that snap looking stuff that wouldn't look bad.

Since I’ve lost the earlier picture, here’s my early 90s 883R set up for Sport Twins Racing using Harley original components



The original, short strut frame extends just to above the rear spindle, and supports the number plates, as the RSD bike does.

There is also the fact that, at 61” wheelbase, the Sportster is about 4” too long for an “authentic” flat track look.

You know you're going to have to cut those support frame rails off for a good flat track look, so here's the Storz instructions on where to cut.
The instructions are for their seat, but worked fine for a faithful XR750 seat base copy I used for my wife's 1998 XLH1200 street tracker build. The seat was built by an English company https://www.triumphparts.gbr.cc/index.php/4/188770/ who used an original XR750 seat as a mould.

You can install the Storz seat without cutting the frame, if you stay with the OEM turn signals, they will mostly mask the frame rails.
