Throttle cable for CV carb
Quick question for those with CV carbs on their ironheads. What throttle cable are y’all using?
I tried the stock replacement for an 81 XLH from J&P but I had to cut the housing back, that worked for a little while but it broke. So I bought one for a 1990 sportster thinking that bike came with a CV so it should work, but even with the slack adjusted all the way out the housing is too short. Not really sure which way to go now.
I first heard 88-95 should work, but some say 91-95. What would the difference be?
Thanks!

Which throttle housing are you using?
The 90 cable works with a snap in throttle housing with integrated switches I believe.

I’m using an EMGO throttle from Lowbrow Customs. I don’t have any switches so I just need a simple throttle.

I use the 60's internal throttle. Changed the spiral so it pulls open, instead of the push action, and added 50 cents worth of braided stainless wire from the local hardware store. Got a barrel ferrule from the auto-parts store to connect the CV to the throttle wire. Single cable with the stock CV return spring.
