Default LOUD horn!

My stock meep-meep horn evidently was louder than most...but after being cut off last week by a cager, I wanted more!

I happened to see the Stebel Compact Nautilus at a local Advanced Auto Parts and thought that it would be great, but they wanted $50 for it. I did a Google search trying to find out more about the horn itself...what I found was that this thing has developed a legion of devotees in the motorcycle world! It is designed for, among other things, use on a motorcycle. It is resistant to the vibration and is very compact for an air horn. Loud? Oh, buddy is this thing LOUD! 139db loud. Way louder than Fiamm's "Freeway Blaster"-which, itself is very loud at 130db. Decibels are logarithmic, so a 3db increase in sound pressure appears twice as loud to the listener. By this logic, the Stebel Compact Nautilus is eight times louder than the Freeway Blaster. I have the Freeway Blasters on my four wheel vehicles and can attest to their loudness. The Stebel blows them into the weeds.

It is compact and, while noticeable, is minimally intrusive to my eye. They are available from many online vendors for $35, including relay.

Yes, I know my fuel tank is not bolted on...

(pay no attention to the small head in the mirrors...) Also, my shop is a bloody mess-welcome to my world

Kim

Found the link to what it sounds like. Wow, that is loud.

Stebel Compact Air Horn

edit: it wouldn't let me direct link it. Click on products, the pic of the bike, then nautilus compact.

Yes, you can tell it's loud from the website...but it doesn't prepare you for the sheer volume the little sucker puts out...I gave my wife the honors of 'first honk'...she jumped about three feet!

Sure beats the price of the 'new' HD airhorn...
@ $124.95 + $49.95 for mount kit

I have one of these also. Not on the bike yet, still trying to find something to hide it better. It is very loud. A friend of mine has one on his roadstar and it works great. Very impressive horn and it does it's job very well
