Default Mustang wide touring solo seat with tour pack rack

I do quite a few road trips on my bike, 2014 Custom. And I'm still running the stock seat which is pretty uncomfortable for such trips.

After doing some research, it looks like the Mustang wide touring seat seems to get the most votes for the best touring seat out there.

I want to get the solo version of the Mustang seat, but I also use the Sportster tour pack rack which doesn't leave much room between the rack and the current seat. About an inch clearance.

I'm concerned that the Mustang touring seat wouldn't fit under the tour pack rack. Does anyone run both the tour pack rack and the Mustang wide touring seat?

The solo version should be no problem, several on site run that same set up.

Thanks, I just don't want to get the Mustang touring seat and then find that the rack won't fit over it. It'd be great to see some pics of the combination if anyone has them.

I don't think the seat fits under it, it fits in front of it. As you can see from the pic's below, the seat does not go much past the upper shock bolt.

Of course, this is a pic of a rigid but, I think in this case they're pretty much the same.

Yeah, I'm concerned that the height of the back part of the Mustang seat won't fit under the tour pack rack. It'd be great to hear from someone who's tried this.

There's no point in me getting the touring seat if I can't use my top box. Kinda defeats the purpose. The other seat choice is the Mustang wide tripper seat. That is a lower seat and I think it will fit with the tour pack rack. But I don't think the Tripper seat is as comfortable for long trips as the wide touring seat is. It's probably better than the stock seat though.

If you catch Parrothead's rally bike, there will be pictures with the tour pack and also with the auxiliary gas tank.

Thanks, I did a few filtered google searches and found this thread:

http://xlforum.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1510108

It clearly shows someone using the tour pack rack and the Mustang touring seat. Clearance is pretty close but is seems to just fit.
