Default Engine turns and sounds tight!

Months after buying someone else's abandoned chopper project I got a wheel and belt on it and turned the Buell engine with a reputed 27K miles. It was really hard to turn. I kept squirting different oils thru the spark plug holes, first Lucas oils stabilizer, then Marvel Mystery oil and finally WD 40. It turns!
I bought the thing as a pig in a poke, and spent way too much money on the build without ever checking if the engine would even turn over, so you can believe I was apprehensive! But when I finally got it turning. It goes Woof Woof Woof out the holes.

The big disappointment this week was that the 18"x3.5"DNA wheel I bought used on eBay for $125 is out of true, and the brake side was beat to hell. I bought it a couple of months ago and it came wrapped with the brake side sticking out of the packaging. The seller was a first timer and my theory is that his rotor came loose and caused some mishap that bent the rim. He knew the wheel was junk, intentionally wrapped it badly so that I would blame UPS and he could get his insurance. But I was too dumb to spin the wheel and notice how bad it was, so he didn't even have to go to that much work!

My plan is to keep on with the build til it's running, then replace defective wheel. I want to ride it a few blocks before doing that, even if it goes kaflump kaflump kaflump like a kid's pull toy duck on a string with elliptical wheels.

Is the motor a wreck or not?. Sounds like you've had some bad luck.

The motor sounds good, like it has plenty of compression. I've had good luck too, just some ignorance, like don't buy from a first time seller on eBay!

I was able to turn the smashed up portion of the rim where the brake rotor needed to fit by spinning the rim on the frame and using the end of a bastard file as a chisel. It went just like turning wood on a lathe, only a lot slower. In a closed garage on a 95º evening. But that's why God gave us beer.

I enjoy the process of working on my chopper. I'm not fantasizing that life will be great if I can only get it finished and ride it. That will just be one more step, followed by a more work to get everything dialed in. It's all part of the process.

Meanwhile, I have my big twin to ride.
