Default I got a free XR1000. Looking for Jetting info for Mikuni VM38 ROUND SLIDE

Good evening Gentlemen,
I'm brand new to this forum. Spent the last week reading as many threads as I could on the XR and any Mikuni Carb threads.
I buy, improve and sell houses for a living. My most recent purchase came with 3 motor cycles. A 1985 Yamaha VMAX (first year with the VMAX), 2008 HD Dyna Superglide 3,200 Miles, 1983 XR1000 4,100 miles all stock except the carbs.

I'm selling the other but thinking of keeping the XR. I don't know how long the XR sat. Mikuni VM38-9 round slide carbs. One of the slides was stuck and I freed it with a heat gun. Removed all carbs parts and socked in gallon of carb cleaner. Used rebuild kit to put carbs back together and struggled to start the bike without giving it throttle. Choke would not start bike without throttle.
Spoke with a harley repair man and he said to get 2 new carbs because the old gas had probably eaten away the current carbs.
Just ordered two new Mikuni VM38 Round Slide carbs.

THE BIG QUESTION! Does anyone have advice on the jetting/needle I should start with?

The VM 38 carbs that came with the non starting bike were jetted:
Needle - 6DH3
Slide - 2.0
Air Jet - 1.0
Main Jet 290
Pilot Jet - 20
Needle Jet - P5

The jetting that comes installed with the newly ordered VM38:
Air Jet - .5
Main Jet - 330
Pilot Jet - 30
Needle Jet - Q2

Would you start with the factory jets or the current owners jets? Current owner is deceased and I never met or spoke with him (Zero info on Bike)
I know I'm new here and don't know 1/100 of the stuff this board knows. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you

Wow...congrats on getting a XR1000, quite a rare animal, only about 1700 units produced in 1983 and half of 1984.
I'm sorry I can't help with the mikuni jetting, I might attempt to use the jets from the old mikunis and see if there is any difference.
Would love to see some pictures, once you get it sorted out, not much activity in this section of the forum, hopefully someone with some carb tuning experience will stop in and offer some solutions.
Regards
Roy
Edit*** there is also a Sportster intake and exhaust section of the forum, where you might get more responses, might be worth a try!

Have you found this stick yet? This is the sum total of everything there is to know about a Sporty carb.

We're there any other parts, in boxes or anything, near the bike?
The stock carburetors were Delorto's

BoB F thanks a lot I will comb through and read that stick.

CTXR rider - Someone cleaned out everything except the bikes and some very interesting bullet making equipment. Basically they left the heavy stuff. I have 0 information. The one thing I do know is the front carb was partially dissembled when I arrived.
