Same here. I think we're running the same wires. Taylors. With the pistol grip boots. A real positive snap when they're on.There was a good read on the different types of wires but I cant find it atm.
Thing is there's this misconception that big wires make more spark to burn some ridiculously high octane fuel that actually burns slower and can hurt performance.

I always thought the thicker wires (ie: 10mm vs 8mm) meant that the wire core had less chance to break due to flexibility, not that the core was thicker. Probably MY misconception. Exception to this would be stranded core copper spark plug wires.

Flexibility has to do with the quality of it more so than size.

This is from magnecor's site concerning 10mm vs 8.5mm...

11. What gain, if any, will I get using 10mm size wires — compared to 8.5mm size wires ?
Our R-100 (10mm) cable has a thicker insulating jacket, designed for extreme heat situations or where extra insulation is needed for extreme-output ignition systems and where it's not easy to space the wires from one another and/or the engine. Our KV85 (8.5mm) and R-100 (10mm) cables both use the same conductors and provide the same spark energy output, and, as most street and modified production engines don't really need a cable size larger than 8.5mm, using our 10mm size cable is usually overkill (or for appearance). Please understand our 10mm cables, due to their large diameter and bulk, will take more room, and a little longer to fit and loom correctly.

I knew it was just a thicker insulation not thicker core, just couldn't remember why a person would use the bigger ones. Thanx, Gunner!

Looks mostly.

It can be an actual benefit on real high output ignitions. They can test the insulations' limits.

When GM first introduced their HEI they specified .080" spark plug gaps. The ignition was that strong. The 7mm spark plug leads weren't. With the high output and wide gaps the insulation would "leak". Could be quite a light show off the plug wires with the hood open at night.

I remember this being a problem on Mopars, alot in the '70's. You had to make sure all the plug wires were well seperated. The thicker ones would be a benefit in the rain or high humidity areas, I would think.

Seriously, I want to know.

NGKs here.
I kind of like it when the bike tries to jump out from under me, and is hard to hang onto......

i guess you've never been busted through wire insulation before......years as a mechanic taught me the more insulation the better if your leg is against it for any time.
why are you worried about my wallet? it's just fine but thanks for the concern

Must be the all the HP and excess heat generated from the 100+ octane fuel that would necessitate you needing 10mm wires. I never thought of that.

Here is a odd case. I was using champ h8c on my then they started to wear out real quick. So I switched to autolite. A week ago when I tried to start it it wouldn’t start. It would kick over then die. I kept the previous set of champions and they kicked right over ran until I was doing 20 mph and started to backfire and almost died. So I did a compression test both cylinders were even and put the auto lites back in. Kicked right over and ran great. I am thinking about getting another set of champions. These must be bad
