I just got back from a 100 mile scrub run on some local roads. Huge improvement over my old well used commander 2’s. I didn’t miss the flat center on the rear or the cupping on the front at all. Should have changed the 2’s sooner. Nice to throw it from side to side effortlessly in the twisty‘s with confidence. Braking is impressive. Now I need some rain.
I feel a run out to the Berkshires for BBQ this weekend is in order.

I really like the look of them.....I would almost buy them for that alone...and since I am not fast rider or even close....I will probably buy them unless some one comes out with a better one.

After installing these rubbers and then spending a week tweaking the front ‘Progressive’ and rear ‘Ohlins’ suspensions I am amazed at the way this sucker tracks.
Added some preload and dropped the oil level in the front tubes. Backed out almost all of the spring pre-load on the Ohlins that was set for a 35lbs heavier me so now the free sag and ride hight are spot on again.
A few hundred miles of local twisty roads and multiple tweaks and it’s done.

Still need some rain to give the Commander 3’s a big thumbs up but they are awesome so far for my sedate old man style of riding. Well worth the upgrade to the 3’s.

I went to Pirelli Route 66s after the Commander IIs wore out. Wet traction taking off seems less than the Commander IIs (until they got about 12,000 miles on them) so far, they seem fine on the wet roads and really no problems in the pouring rain last week (besides the bolt coming out of the shift linkage). Dry they seem better than the Commander IIs. That said, there is now a whole lot of new pavement everywhere on my commute, so may be more the fresh wet pavement, I'll see how it goes, but I may try something new or go to the Commander IIIs if the wet ride reviews look good after these wear out or just seem unsafe in the rain. I ride in the rain a good bit so I really like great wet traction in a tire.
