Default EFI from 883 work on a 1200

Now I have read some things about if you are doing a conversion. But I have a 1200 engine and all the computer and what have has is from a 1200 but can I just slap an EFI from an 883 on there and it works when plugged in? I heard the injectors are the same? So will the computer tell it to do big boy stuff? Haha, thanks in advance.

Not without reprogramming it. There are lots of differences between a 1200 tune and an 883 tune.

There's no such thing as an 883 manifold or a 1200 manifold; there's just the one manifold.

That's right, and for that matter, the entire manifold and throttle body assembly and attached sensors and injectors are all common between the 883 and 1200.

Tell you what, Robinson, you can glean tons of info like this from looking in the parts books. They're available online and free to use. I use this one: http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche.....asp?make=hdmc . Anytime I have a question about what's different from one model to the next, or one year to the next, I just go look up the part numbers to see what's different.

You have the 1200 ECU. It will tell the injectors to give a 1200 sized shot of fuel no matter which sized engine they came from.

The timing maps are also vastly different between 883 and 1200 models. Honestly, not much is common between the two when it comes to the tune.
