I'm seeing the prices all over the spectrum....anyone have a reasonably priced suggestion ($75 or under), damn, all it is is a converter.

I don't know what a 'converter' does. But if you mean a battery tender, I got mine at Cycle Gear. They were having grand opening specials and it was only $20.

You may want to check their regular price. I keep my scooter on it regularly but occasionally move it to my cage.

I bought a H-D (battery tender +). 1.25 amp. The thing is close to 20 years old. Still works great. At the time I paid $39.00.

It's not just a convertor, it is more than just a charger.

It is not an "Automatic charger" that switches from 6A to 2A.
2A will cook your bike battery if left on. No voltage control. It just keeps pumping 14.5+ volts into your battery which will turn to heat when the battery reaches full charge.

A Tender is a brand name for a float charger.
It charges at a low rate so it packs as much juice into the battery as it will take (a peak charge). Then it shuts down and supplies a lower voltage "float charge" that will maintain the battery indefinitely without cooking it.

I also have the Harley version for 10+ years (pretty sure it is a rebranded Battery Tender). I have a second one that is made by Schumacher Electric. The only time I get out my manual charger is for a stone dead battery.

They don't call me Ironhead Rick just because I'm hard headed

although setup for onboard installation, could be configured diff. i use this on my chevy tow truck that gets seldom use and it works great and a three stage unit to boot.
i use wally world schumacher units for decades. i went with the other as it is onboard mounted and carry a extension cord to plug in at campgrounds.
