Superheated steam is one link in a chain for extraction. That unit is most likely one of about 5 or 6 pieces that would be joined together.

Or maybe someone is just a really big tea drinker??

Super-heated steam is used in a lot of other processes too. We had two of the big steam boilers in each of the chemical plants at the phosphate mine. The steam was used to process sulfur to make sulfuric acid. The sulfuric acid was used to leach the phosphate out of the ground up phosphate ore. The phosphate is used in almost all fertilizer products, some animal feed ingredients and even added to some processed human foods. The excess steam generated in burning the liquid sulfur is used to run steam turbine generators producing some of the electricity needed in the chemical plants.
