Ditto that! Add the fact that my non-California 2005 XL883 doesn't have the carbon canister, and my ride just gets more valuable to me every day. It has very little chrome and I don't polish it -- just clean it -- because I treat it like my favorite pair of work boots. The blemishes just add character to its already perfect personality. I plan to ride, maintain, and repair it until I can't ride anymore.

I also have the same windshield. It doesn't block the view and it doesn't vibrate. It DOES keep the wind from wearing me out on long rides. I've tried riding without it just out of curiosity and I don't understand why riders want to punish themselves that way. Just like the protection I get from my full face shield on my full-face and open-face helmets: bugs hurt! I let the dried bugs collect on my windshield but not on my face shield - they make me cross-eyed.

That's exactly the analogy I was looking for.

Had 55k on it in the first four years, then shut it down for a while, this year we're back in action (well, sort of, after I sort out a few problems).
