That's not too bad but it sure looks heavy. Does the tank slosh around or do you have some sort of baffle system or bladder/foam (like race cars) in it?

I definitely know it's there but when on trips the convenience outweighs the handling I loose. I got tired of lashing a bag to the bike each morning and unlashing it at night.

The tank does have a baffle in it to keep the sloshing down. I don't feel any movement of the fuel at all

My wife and I just did over 4200 miles from East tn, to Devils Tower in Wy, and camped 2 weeks 17 miles south of Sturgis in a place called Nemo. It was an awesome trip tent camping all the way. But anyway, people were amazed that we had made that trip on a Sporty. It's all in what your comfort level is. There were days that the head wind nearly broke me neck without a windshield but hey, it's all part of the experience.

Just did a short 5,285 miles in 10 days covering the Southeast US on my Sporty. That included competing in a 31 hour rally where I covered 1215 miles from Nashville TN to Fredericksburg VA

I got a lot of comments about that when I did the same thing out to Cali and back. Constant "I can't believe you're on a Sportster."

Agreed on the wind. Even with my flyscreen (which does a great job) the desert and plains had some nasty wind.

After a 3week, 15 State 7,177 mile run in August people thought I was playing with a short deck. Might be something to that?

Not many riders realize that today's 1200 Sporty is very similar in weight, wheelbase & displacement to a '50s to '70s Electra-Glide. Guess no one back then could tour either, eh? Those nay-sayers should prefer to be silent & be thought to be ignorant, than to speak & remove all doubt.

I probably have the heaviest sporty out there and under powered is not a term I would use. It accelerates plenty fast for me and I have pliantly of power left to pass as needed
