I think the first XR heads were just XLR heads.
And I suspect they already knew they had a heat problem which is why the boss was on the XLR heads.

I don't know if the XLR heads used the smaller valves of the 57 XL but it would probably have helped.

I see zero advantage in them as opposed to a stock XL head as a starting point for a race engine.
As a collectors peice ? How many XLR's are there out there running around without a front head ?

I think some people just think that any old race stuff has to be valuable.

XLR heads were ported by Jerry Branch.'65 up used 1-15/16'' intakes '70-71 XR started the large exhaust 1-3/4''. I know this because I have a set that has been researched and discussed here.

I think a complete XLR engine would be valuable. I would love to have one myself.

But just the front head on it's own ?

Rocking Horse Shite is very rare. Very rare indeed.

But what good is it to you if you don't own a Rocking Horse Garden ?
