I have a National with the quick release hardware that I tried on my '77 XLT. Didn't like the turbulence around my head and tried both high and low adjustments of the screen, to no avail. Removed it and it's collecting dust. Also didn't like the way the screen affected the handlebars in gusts and truck passings.

Thanks for the additional feedback on the National Shield Eric! Do you remember the model name of your National? Do you normally wear a helmet?

Is this HJC IS-Cruiser Helmet (that HJC calls a 1/2 helmet), the "HJC 3/4 Helmet with flip up shield" that you mentioned?

I have the older and newer versions of the HJC i30 3/4 helmet with a fuller shield than what you pictured , also has open / close vents

Yes, I wear a modular helmet due to state law. I found the turbulence unsettling, but then I've been riding for nearly 55 years without a windshield. I don't remember the National model since it was about 10 years ago since I purchased it.
