I thought I saw RTV on the cylinder base gaskets too.

However, I’d think everyone would agree that RTV didn’t do that to the pump. That engine has been apart several times, had big-serts installed in the cases. Some metal trash went through through the pump. The gears are big enough so that damage isn’t going to stop the scavenge stage from pumping, just make it less efficient. To me it’s just part of other things going on.

I agree with that.
Generally, a small amount of aluminum isn't going to break the bank as they will get chewed up by the bearings.
The pump being less efficient is a problem.
The housing has pieces missing and we still haven't seen the dirty little metal piece that did it.
It is floating around somewhere.
I am wondering if the jolt from the metal in the pump may have put enough stress on the drive gear to hurt it.
Then again, we don't know from which part the metal came.
Was it a bearing?, left overs from the big sert installation?
Too many unknowns...

This is an oil pump from XLF member, lostndallas.
This round broken off piece of drive gear was found inside the oil pump.
That means it fell into the cam chest floor, got pulled into the front port of the pump and got caught up under the scavenge gears.

You are correct Sir.
I didn't look that far down. That engine needs to come apart to be cleaned and inspected.
That scrubbing almost sounds like a dry cylinder but it isn't consistent with full rotation.

To the op.
If you'll post pics of the teardown, we'll help diagnose as much as we can.
