I ride it hard, a Michelin Commander rear tire lasts about 8 000 km on it and I have to change front break pads about as often.

It's well taken care of but he clutch obviously can't take it. The bike have done 43 000 kilometers and the grenade plate has completely ruined it once. Now it has started to slip again so I'm putting Barnetts extra plate in it.

A clutch that breaks down because of aggressive riding on a motor with no internal mods that quick is a flaw to me. That it has this spring plate that risks to destroy the basket and everything because of it's construction a disaster.

That it works for those who ride their sportsters like farts with Fat Boys is no excuse. The 1200 is a bike for rascals. It should be able to survive some punishment.
a slipping issue not necessarily means a detonated spring plate... since, at least on my rides, simpthoms were different... difficult shift... loose tension on clutch cable... difficult to find neutral...
try in primis to change the clutch spring... and change oil...

I know it's doesn't have to be the spring plate this time. But this is a safety measure since I ride hard. And it will make me sleep better at night.

A Barnett extra plate kit is pretty cheap. A full clutch failure darn expensive.

it still looks good at 20k miles (ish) but putting an Energy One extra plate kit in when the motor goes back in.
