Default cyclone/lightnin

hey all usually stick to my ironheads and chopper builds ,but have a recent life change that puts me in the market for a commuter and this time no goin for a 5 speed XL. its time for a cyclone or lightnin and i think I am limited to the 99 model.I want a carb, but the better 91 hp thunderstorm heads and the aluminum swing arm. havin a carb is a must.Color mileage equipment doesn't matter, so I would like some input.I have been told me bein extry tall and older the cyclone is the way to go and blackout/ carbon fiber, loud but not open breathin is me.... gonna have to blast large section of FLa 4 lane, hate it for me..lol never owned any type of sport bike and my buddy is 6'8 300 on an S1 when not on his ultra ,,so its time..If somebody has somethin available and is interested in an ironhead. let me know.I have several.

If you want a carb and factory Thunderstorms, your choices are a 1998 S3, 1998 S3T, 1998 S1W (not the standard S1), and 1999-2002 M2. They're not hard to find and they're pretty cheap.

1998 was the only year for the S1W. The S1 Lightning & S1W White Lightning were dropped in 1999 in favor of the X1 Lightning, which is injected. Likewise the S3 and S3T models went injected in 1999. So starting in 1999, if you wanted a carb, your only choice was the M2 Cyclone.

S3's and S1W's came with "B" cams (SE .497 grind, aka Andrews N4) and the 98-02 Thunderstorm versions were rated at 101hp.

Domestic M2's came with "D" cams, and the 99-02 Thunderstorm versions were rated at 91hp.

Lots and lots of the non-Thunderstorm motors got upgraded to Thunderstorms. So you'll find them on more than just the above. But be aware that the Thunderstorm header is also different, at least on domestic models. So unless the header got upgraded as well, it's not a complete conversion.

Default s1 s3 m2

looks like then my give and take model is the 98 S3...steel swing arm instead of cast alum. but carb hada and cam.i prefer this header system as well.Am not gonna rule out an m2 ,so if anyone reading has the S3 S3T or the M2 in theses posts available ,contact me cash or trade..
