Serviced, cleaned and put new tires on. Not necessarily in that order...

Today I rode 230 miles on this sporty:

to pick up some custom made parts for this one:

My friend machined the parts for me for free. Cause he is cool like that.

Since the last post I got the Tour-Pak mount welded, polished and installed; bored the mounting holes in the Tour-Pak and ordered the mounting isolators; installed the saddlebag mounts, including turning some stainless spacers on the lathe; relocated the rear turn signals; installed the new rear fender and tail light; installed the mufflers and sprocket cover; reinstalled the rear wheel and belt guard; mounted the left highway peg.

Had to pickup the Snap-On tool (and learn how to use it!) for removing the pins in the tail light and turn signal cables.

BTW the seat, which I had to shorten in the front. is off a different model Sportster.

Made an alignment tool and did the wheel alignment; adjusted the belt tension; installed the shift lever, right highway peg and saddlebags; fabricated and installed the vibration isolators for the Tour-Pak, and attached to the Tour-Pak the reflectors I had removed from the new fender.

Finally finished installing a Mikuni HSR42 and seem to be getting it dialed in fairly well. I don't know how to describe the difference except that it's fun, the time between third and fourth got a lot shorter. I think my bike has sort of evolved into a sleeper.

Went for a little ride in the local mountain road. Had fun and checked saw a local photographer. If any of his pics came out good, I might buy one. Although they do cost $25 a shot.
One bit I love about it there is the other riders. Having them say how Harley's are slow, but you can't throw them around, then chasing them through the tightest bits. And the new Hammer engine conversion lets me hold them on the straights, hich I had truble with the stock 1200 kit.
