XR1000 black and orange pics?
Hello,
If anyone out there owns a black and orange XR1000 and can either post pics (or PM to me) of the fuel tank (top and both sides) as well as the front and rear fenders from various angles it would be very much appreciated.
My 1984 XR1000 has the slate gray paint and it has flaked off the side of the tank due to a fuel leak (which I have fixed), I cannot find matching slate gray paint and tank decals for the tank, but have found a set of orange tank decals, so, I thought it might be easier to paint the tanks and fenders black and match whatever pin strips were stock.
Thanks for any help.
CJ

Great. Thanks.
Do you know if both paint schemes were offered for each year? Or was black on orange for 83 and orange on black for 84?

IDK for sure, and official info is hard to find. I think that it was gray for 83, and that 83 shown in black with orange inset on the tank is prob H-D custom shop.
The Orange with black is 84.

Slate gray for 1983
Orange and black for 1984 (and, technically with the leftover stock, 1985 bikes)

Panels on the side of the Black and Orange tank are decals and still available. I see them on Ebay etc..
