Default Pleas help me ID missing part on 08 Buell Blast

Hi yall, I picked up an '08 buell blast for a song in hopes that it would be a simple project and I could have a cheap little commuter for around town.

The primary guides had broken and the chain chewed through the primary cover. I eventually got around to my project and replaced the guides and cover.

I then discovered what appears to be a missing piece, perhaps a bushing or closed end bearing. It is located just in front of the front belt sprocket. It appears to be a hole into the case with a shaft just sitting in the hole. I am puzzled.

I took the bike up and down my street and the transmission did not feel right. Wondering what this part may be so I can replace it.

Thank you for your help!

I hope this works. Here is a picture of the area in question. Sorry for the facebook link, but it is the only place I could post/host a picture at the moment.

It may be part number 8977 BEARING, closed end.

Here is a link to the HD Parts Catalog for a 2008 Blast:

Thanks, shanneba, for the link! I think I actually ordered the 8977 bearing and when it came it turned out to be too big.

The factory parts catalog was super helpful, and I think I actually figured out the part that's missing. It is part number 9151 closed end bearing. It is the bearing that supports the right side of the shift drum. Found a google image of the shift drum and it looks exactly like what I'm seeing in the open hole. Makes sense to me.

I'm having a heck of a time finding a place that can get me that bearing though. Any help in that department would be appreciated!

The 9151 crosses to a INA (Schaeffler) BCE108 Bearing.
Just search online for the INA BCE108 and you’ll find a place to purchase one. Or go to a local bearing house with that number and they will either have it, or a substitute.

https://www.motionindustries.com/pro...p?sku=00093011

https://www.amazon.com/INA-Bearing-1.../dp/B006KT1B2G

Anytime you have the bearing in hand (or it’s dimensions), the bearing houses are very good at helping, those folks will match up bearing and seals, just from the dimensions, or they will cross reference a substitute.
