4 speed top loader from a Torino grafted to a Dana transfer case and a Warn Overdrive. Hurst shifter. 16 forward speeds with 4 reverse.
8 synchro high, 8 synchro low.
This was in ‘76 and had no pollution controls. Registration as a farm vehicle and didn’t have to go through NJ DMV inspection.😅
It would beat showroom Corvettes to 85 and then get really unstable with that short wheel base and 32” tires.
Sadly, I messed up building my hydraulic clutch mechanism out of aluminum. After about 65k miles and a harsh NJ winter, galvanic action between it and the steel frame caused excess corrosion and the frame broke going over a set of railroad tracks.
I still have the intact trans combo out in my shop. The rest went to a restoration outfit for parts.
It ran so effing hot during Summer months girls would get heat stroke and puke in the passenger side coming up the GSP from the shore.
I miss it
