Sorry to hear this. I'm glad you made it out to tell about it.
It's hard to tell what might be wrong with the shifting without putting some optical nerves in there.
I'd pull the cover and check the shift shaft for damage.
Shift by hand with the rear tire off the ground while tuning the tire.
See if the tranny shifts smooth or bumps and grinds.
Your tranny is inside the cases (have to split the cases to see the gears and parts).
If there is any doubt, get it looked at.

Get back on that bike soon as you can and ride safe. Best wishes.

I knew a guy back in NH who was struck twice by lightning. Once while standing inside a barn! As I remember, there was a block and tackle hanging near him that carried the charge.

That was a lot of years ago, he is either in his late 90's or he isn't worried about lightning at all.

After my near miss with lightening I have a healthier respect for it. And with deer, I live with a constant reminder from my incident. About 30% vision loss in left eye and loss of ten teeth so far. This getting old ain’t easy and those things make it even harder. Gotta suck it up and move on.

Amen to that. I too live in deer country. Been lucky a few times. Guy I worked with before my crash hit 3 of them with his big truck in less than a year. 2 on the same stretch I had 2 close encounters. I dont ride much at night or early morning anymore.
