Don't forget German bearings and I have run some very good bearings that were made in Brazil.

Good materials, good heat treat, holding tolerance. These are that attributes that are most desireable. The bearings have already been designed long ago, all they have to do is stay in spec.

They don't call me Ironhead Rick just because I'm hard headed

I ordered left side crank bearings from JP cycles and they are V Twin made in Taiwan. Of course picture on internet was Timken.

Fortunately they have a good return policy. I don't think I'm keeping it.

Yeh, safest bet is only order from your local bearing supplier, then you know you are getting Koyo (or Sonnax or NTN, or whatever you actually order from them). I think even ordering through the HD dealership is a crap shoot, the only guarantee is that you pay 3 times what the bearing is worth.

An HD stealership will just order from one of the big three distributors, almost all of the ironhead parts are discontinued from HD. Best to go through a bearing house. If you use eBay or Amazon beware of counterfiets and re-sellers that have no inventory..

VTwin has a horrible return policy. They will give you store credit or send another crappy part. Some items are best not ordered from VT. In many cases a used OEM part is a better choice

Well that ate at me long enough. I'm returning the product to JP cycles. I ordered another one from Dennis Kirk, clearly stated in add "made in the USA".

So I have received my Dennis Kirk order. Bearing is packaged different than the one received from JP Cycles. That and the $30 more this bearing cost is the only perceivable difference I can see. Probably both had the same manufacturer.

A name brand bearing will usually have the Mfgrs name on it and the number.

A no name bearing is just that....

They don't call me Ironhead Rick just because I'm hard headed
